Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal resin, polyoxymethylene oxide, polyacetal, is a thermoplastic crystalline polymer, known as “super steel” or “Saigang”.
Polyoxymethylene is a linear polymer with no side chains, high density and high crystallinity, and has excellent overall properties.
Polyoxymethylene is a hard and dense material with a smooth, shiny surface, light yellow or white, and can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -40-100°C.Its wear resistance and self-lubricating properties are also superior to most engineering plastics, and it has good oil resistance and peroxide resistance.It is very resistant to acid, strong alkali and ultraviolet radiation from sunlight.
The tensile strength of polyoxymethylene reaches 70MPa, the water absorption is small, the size is stable, and the gloss is good. These properties are better than nylon. Polyoxymethylene is a highly crystalline resin and is the toughest among thermoplastic resins.It has high thermal strength, bending strength, fatigue resistance, excellent wear resistance and electrical properties.

POM is a tough and elastic material, even at low temperatures, it still has good creep resistance, geometric stability and impact resistance.POM has both homopolymer materials and copolymer materials.Homopolymer materials have good ductile strength and fatigue strength, but they are not easy to process.The copolymer material has good thermal stability, chemical stability and is easy to process.Both homopolymer materials and copolymer materials are crystalline materials and are not easy to absorb moisture.The high degree of crystallization of POM causes it to have a fairly high shrinkage rate, which can be as high as 2%~3.5%.For a variety of different reinforced materials, there are different shrinkage rates.
